Customer stories on remodelling, redesigning and repurposing jewellery.
We all have them…pieces of jewellery we are attached to but never wear or no longer take pleasure in wearing.
We firmly believe all jewellery deserves to be treasured, loved and most importantly worn!
Our remodelling service is growing in popularity as customers look to create something modern and wearable reusing the materials of the original pieces as inspiration for something new.
Here are some of our recent recreations we have worked on with our clients:
With their Ruby Wedding Anniversary approaching, our client decided that rather than investing in a new item of jewellery to mark the occasion, she wanted to create a single modern ring from her original diamond engagement ring and eternity ring (pictured below).

Eight weeks after their initial consultation with our Store Manager John, the couple came to collect their stunning new piece of jewellery, which features five of the six diamonds from the original rings.

What did we do with the sixth diamond? We placed it in her husband’s ring before giving the ring a full clean and polish.

A simple alteration to a piece of jewellery can ensure it retains its sentimental value while creating something more in keeping with current styles. This was the case for our client who was looking to change the look of her classic gold single solitaire engagement ring which she had been wearing for the past 30 years. We reset her diamond in a platinum mount with sparkling diamond shoulders to add that extra wow factor.

If only we could show you the pure joy on her face when she came to collect her restyled and updated engagement ring. These were her words as she tried it on:
"I'm absolutely over the moon! I can't stop looking at it. It's like when you first get engaged."
This special treat was designed and created by our team and delivered on time for her 30th wedding anniversary, just six weeks after initially coming into see us.

Making the decision to update a sentimental piece of jewellery can be emotional but you are in safe hands with our team. We take as much pride and care in drawing up the designs and creating the new item of jewellery as we do listening to our customers and understanding the story and sentiment which is attached to their treasures.
Which leads us to our final customer story and one of the most special, yet simple creations we have made to keep a loved one close.
Our client didn’t want her late husband’s wedding band to languish in her jewellery box. Using the band, we created a beautiful pair of earrings that are perfect for wearing every day and still carry the hallmark from the year they married.

We hope you've enjoyed reading about how we work with our customers as part of our remodelling service.
This is just a selection of the bespoke, remodelling work we have undertaken.
If you would like to talk to us about redesigning a piece of treasured jewellery you currently wear or have inherited but does not suit your style or personality we would love to help you.

Continue readingJewellery is precious and often holds great sentimental as well as monetary value. That is why it is so important to know how to care for your jewellery, especially when it comes to protecting and cleaning it.
So, we have put together some simple advice and top tips on caring for your treasured jewellery possessions.

We highly recommend seeking an insurance valuation for your jewellery. This should be as detailed as possible to accurately record every aspect of your item. We also recommend taking full colour photographs of each item for insurance valuations. Here at Warrenders, our jewellery appraisals are carried out by a registered, expert valuer and include colour photography.

Quality jewellery is made to last, and it is rarely beyond repair. We do recommend however that you get your rings checked by a professional jeweller once a year to ensure gemstones or diamonds are still safe and secure in their settings. We also advise that you regularly check for loose catches and clasps or rough links on chains or bracelets, fractures in metals, pearls that are loose on their thread or where the thread is frayed and plating that may be wearing off white gold.
If using a jewellery cleaner, be aware that porous stones such as emeralds, opals and pearls should not be placed in any form of cleaning agent. When using a specialist cleaner at home, leave items in for a maximum of one minute and then rinse them under fresh water thoroughly to ensure there is no chemical remaining. If you prefer not to use a cleaner or simply don’t have one in the house, then do not worry. A simple bowl of lukewarm water with a few drops of washing-up liquid added will help remove tarnishing. Soak silver jewellery for ten minutes, gently scrub the silver with a soft, clean brush, rinse in clean warm water and leave to air dry.

Do not submerge organic gemstones in water. Instead, wet a soft cloth with warm water and gently rub each stone individually. Stubborn dirt can be removed carefully using a soft brush. Lastly, when it comes to wearing jewellery, pearls should always be the last item you put on and then the first item you take off.
Try not to leave your jewellery on chemically treated surfaces or on wood which can stain or speed up the tarnishing process. Leaving your jewellery in sunlight is also best avoided as the colour of gemstones dulls when exposed to too much light. Keep your jewellery dry and away from skincare products. Always apply lotions, perfume or hairspray before you put on your jewellery and never wear silver and most gemstones when you go swimming in chlorinated water.

We always advise storing your jewellery in a box or case which is ideally lined with a soft material so your precious pieces don’t rub or scratch one another. It’s best to keep gold and silver separately if you can. If you can, store your silver jewellery together with silica packs it will help to absorb the moisture. Finally, to keep your delicate chains tangle-free we recommend you keep them in small, separate plastic zip-lock bags.

We hope this guide to caring for your jewellery will help keep it in pristine condition for many years to come. However, if you are ever in doubt about what to do, we would be delighted to help put the sparkle back in your ring, necklace, earrings, bracelet or watch using our in-house cleaning service.
We can also provide valuations, re-sizing, bespoke re-modelling, offers to purchase, engraving and full servicing on jewellery and watches. Simply pop into our Cheam Road store or call 020 8643 4381 to book an appointment with us.

We are delighted so many couples are finally able to celebrate their love for each other with family and friends. We've loved meeting lots of new customers recently to help them find and create unique pieces to celebrate their love.
Happily Ever After
Chris and Emily finally got to walk down the aisle last summer so they could start living their happy ever after.

Chris came to us to create a beautiful bespoke platinum diamond solitaire engagement ring for Emily. He hand selected the glittering round brilliant cut diamond and we accented it with shimmering diamond set shoulders.

We were delighted to see them again when it was time to choose their wedding rings and would like to wish this lovely couple every happiness for the future.
A Symbol of Love Across Generations
Adding extra sentimentality to an already special piece of jewellery, our customer chose to have his wedding ring made using the gold from both his Grandparents' rings so that he could keep them close.

To start the process of creating this incredibly precious wedding band symbolising love across the generations, we melted down the rings. We even set the diamond from his Grandmother's engagement ring discreetly inside the band.

If you would be interested in creating a bespoke engagement ring or wedding band why not call us on 020 8643 4381 to book an appointment in-store or email us with your ideas at info@warrenders.co.uk.
We'd love to help you add even greater meaning and sentiment to this most important piece of jewellery.
