We are delighted to announce that on Tuesday 17th December our Warrenders’ building was awarded a Heritage Plaque. Nine properties in Sutton were presented with this honour including several on Cheam Road.

In partnership with Successful Sutton Business Improvement District, Sutton Council is celebrating locally significant buildings within the town centre. The initiative is part of the Sutton Town Centre Heritage Action Zone, which is designed to support local heritage and promote economic growth in the area. The plaque recognises the important contribution that historical buildings such as ours add to the fabric of Sutton.

Our premises on Cheam Road was selected for an award due to its classic 1930s mock Tudor façade, which was likely designed by a local architect. John Kitchener, our Store Manager, was presented with the plaque by Councillor Steve Penneck.

In order to maintain and preserve our classic 1930s mock tudor building, we sought and got planning permission to repair and replace the frontage of our buildings on a like for like basis on condition that the materials we used were in keeping with the property as it was and is. Since being granted permission we have worked with and been supported by London Borough of Sutton (LBS) and Robin Lee Architects in delivery of the overall project. Helped in no small part by grant funding from Historic England. 

As part of our celebration of family, this Christmas we have been speaking to some of the many significant individuals in our Warrenders history to find out just what jewellery means to them. On Saturday 23^rd November we will be getting into the festive spirit for the Sutton Christmas Light Switch On, with an in-store competition for one lucky customer to win a piece of diamond jewellery.

Between 11am and 6pm, Sutton High Street will be buzzing with a host of activities including live music, a parade and a puppet show. To join in with the celebrations, we will be challenging visitors to find a real diamond amongst a collection of imitation stones.
